Ingrown Toenail – Cause of Toe Pain

An ingrown nail, also known as Onychocryptosis, is a familiar form of nail disease. This condition is quite painful since the nail grows into the skin. This condition is normally found on toenails. When a person has an ingrown toenail, the corner or side of the toenails usually grows into the soft flesh of the toe.

Some of the most common signs of an ingrown toenail include pain, redness and swelling on the affected area of the toe during the early stages.  However, extra skin and tissue may also grow around the edge of the toe nail and a yellowish drainage may be visible.
